The questions which ask whether a client agrees or disagrees with a statement have a middle option. The response is designed to be on the scale between fully agreeing and entirely disagreeing.
We have tested statistically that this middle option relates to a middle of the scale response compared to, for example, a reply that means that the client doesn’t know the answer or has no view.
Using “in-between” as our middle option, we have avoided the issue that the middle option could be interpreted differently. For example, a “not sure” as the middle option would not be suitable as it isn’t clear if it’s the question they’re unsure about or the level of agreement to the statement.
